Residential Permits

Downtown residents can purchase residential parking permits for both on-street and off-street parking options. A residential permit does not guarantee a parking space in front of one’s own building. Residents must provide documentation verifying a residential address in downtown Macon, either via a driver's license or an active lease.

  • Residents can purchase a permit to park in residential on-street zones for $200/year. This permit allows residents to park on-street in residential zones without paying additional fare. This permit does not guarantee residents that a spot will be available in these zones.

    Residents can also purchase a permit for the garage located at 440 Mulberry St for $25.00/month.

    Residents of the Dempsey are eligible for additional discounted parking permits and should contact Park Macon at 478-200-4200 for more informaiton.

  • Monthly permit options may be available in private parking garages throughout downtown. Downtown residents should reach out to garage operators directly to learn more about other options.

  • Copies of the following documents are required to establish residency:

    Driver’s License and vehicle registration with address in Macon Downtown Area.

    Residents with driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations that do NOT reflect the Macon Downtown Area must also present one of the following documents as proof of residency by district:

    Property owners: Georgia Department of Assessment and Taxation or a current* utility bill with the owner’s name along with Government issued ID matching the name.

    Lessee: Copy of current signed lease along with Government issued ID matching the name. The RPP Garage Pass or RPP On-Street Permit will only be valid until the end of the lease. Month-to-month leases are not accepted.

  • Limited to 2 per residential address.

  • Applications are processed through the online portal or in the Park Macon office at the self-service kiosk at 517 B Cherry St.

Garage Permits

Monthly and Annual garage permits are available for purchase for employees and those who frequently visit downtown Macon. A garage permit allows a user to park their vehicle in the 440 Mulberry garage without paying the daily rate.

  • Yes, residents pay a reduced rate to park in the garage. You will need to the following documents to establish residency:

Employer Parking Program

Employer parking passes provide a convenient, affordable way for employees and business owners to park off-street while working downtown. Passes help keep on-street parking available for customers and make it easier for employees to focus on their work instead of hunting for parking.

  • Any employer or business owner in Downtown Macon’s Paid Parking Area. Employers can distribute passes to employees.

  • At the Park Macon Parking Garage, 440 Mulberry St. (next to the Douglass Theatre).

    • Mon–Fri: $1/hour, max $6/day

    • Sat, Sun, City Holidays: Free
      Employer passes allow garage access at any time for a flat monthly rate.

  • $25 per vehicle per month.

  • License plate numbers for all employee vehicles covered by the pass.

  • Employers must notify Park Macon if license plates change or vehicles are no longer in use.

  • Passes cover garage access only. Employers are responsible for maintaining accurate vehicle information.

Meter Reservation

If you own a business or organization downtown, or if you are hosting an event in the downtown area, you can reserve parking meters on a one-time basis. Meter reservations ensure that spaces associated with the reserved meters will not be ticketed by our parking team.

To reserve a meter, you must submit a request at least 7 days in advance of the date you want the meters reserved. You can make a request by calling the Park Macon Office, visiting our office in person, or filling out the online submission form below. Please contact our office with any questions.

Meter Reservation Form

  • You can reserve up to 10 spaces at a time for up to 48 hours. Most meters cover two spaces.

  • The cost is $6.00 per space per day. Most of the downtown meters cover 2 spots each, so keep that in mind when planning your reservation.

  • Reservations must be requested at least 7 days in advance of the date you want the meters reserved.

  • You can make a reservation by:

  • Once your request is accepted, you will need to make payment in advance of the reservation date to finalize your reservation.

  • Our parking team will bag the reserved meters prior to enforcement hours (8 a.m.) on the day of your reservation.

  • You’ll need to provide:

    • The meter numbers for the spaces you want to reserve

    • The date of the reservation

    • The reason for reserving the meters
      You can find the meter number on the back of the meter, which starts with a letter followed by three numbers (e.g., A-123).

  • Reserved spaces can only be used for parking. They cannot be used for activities such as performances, serving food or beverages, seating, or any other business operations extending into the right-of-way.

  • A reservation ensures that cars parked in the reserved spaces will not be ticketed. However, Park Macon is not responsible for ensuring that the cars are associated with the event or business that made the reservation.

  • Park Macon reserves the right to cancel a reservation if it does not comply with our meter reservation policy.

    If you need to cancel your reservation, please notify Park Macon in writing at least 24 hours in advance. You can send a cancellation request to sschroeder@maconbibb.us.

  • No, Park Macon is not liable for any damages that occur during the reservation period.

Construction and Film Permits

All production crews (film, construction, event etc.) must reserve meters if they wish to park on-street longer than the 3-hour limit. Construction/production vehicles that are not actively loading or unloading within the time limits prescribed by the loading zone signage, must reserve meters to park on-street. Commercial loading zones cannot be used for vehicle storage, only active loading and unloading within the limits prescribed by the signage.

  • Park Macon meters cannot be removed without the expressed authorization of Park Macon.

    Sec 28-139.5 of the Macon-Bibb Code of Ordinances prohibits tampering with a meter.

    Should any production crew (construction, film, event etc.) require the removal of a meter, they must first complete an application, and only after Park Macon approval may any meter be altered.

    Meter Removal Permit Applications are processed through our online portal or in the office with our self-service kiosk.

  • Should any production crew (construction, film, event, etc.) require a street to be closed, Park Macon requires 14-day notice.

    Park Macon needs to prevent payments from processing on that blockface.

Commercial Loading Zones

Operators of duly recognized commercial vehicles may purchase 15-minute increments of time at a rate of $2.00 per 15 minutes, for a maximum of 1 hour or $8.00. No vehicle other than a duly recognized commercial vehicle may park in commercial loading zones. By county ordinance, a commercial vehicle “must be properly identified showing that it is a delivery or pick-up vehicle.”

  • (1) Bear a commercial vehicle license plate; or

    (2) Are emblazoned with the name, logo or other identifier of a business affixed either permanently or temporarily to the vehicle in a manner identifiable from at least twenty-five feet away; or

    Temporary, unaffixed identification (e.g. a sheet of paper or cardboard on the dashboard or rear window deck) is not a sufficient label for a commercial vehicle.
