Residential Permits

Residential permits are intended to subsidize long-term parking downtown for our residents. A residential permit does not guarantee a parking space in front of one’s own building. A residential permit enables a user to park for up to 12 hours at a metered space, without paying the meter.

  • Copies of the following documents are required to establish residency:

    Driver’s License and vehicle registration with address in Macon Downtown Area.

    Residents with driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations that do NOT reflect the Macon Downtown Area must also present one of the following documents as proof of residency by district:

    Property owners: Georgia Department of Assessment and Taxation or a current* utility bill with the owner’s name along with Government issued ID matching the name.

    Lessee: Copy of current signed lease along with Government issued ID matching the name. The RPP Garage Pass or RPP On-Street Permit will only be valid until the end of the lease. Month-to-month leases are not accepted.

  • Limited to 2 per residential address.

  • Applications are processed through the online portal or in the Park Macon office at the self-service kiosk at 517 B Cherry St.

Garage Permits

Monthly and Annual garage permits are available for purchase for employees and those who frequently visit downtown Macon. A garage permit allows a user to park their vehicle in the 440 Mulberry garage without paying the daily rate.

  • Yes, residents pay a reduced rate to park in the garage. You will need to the following documents to establish residency:

  • Yes, downtown employees are eligible for garage permits. It does not require any additional documents to apply for a garage permit if you work downtown.

Construction and Film Permits

All production crews (film, construction, event etc.) must reserve meters if they wish to park on-street longer than the 3-hour limit. Construction/production vehicles that are not actively loading or unloading within the time limits prescribed by the loading zone signage, must reserve meters to park on-street. Commercial loading zones cannot be used for vehicle storage, only active loading and unloading within the limits prescribed by the signage.

  • $6 per meter, per day.

  • Meter Reservation Permit Applications are processed through GTechna.

  • Park Macon meters cannot be removed without the expressed authorization of Park Macon.

    Sec 28-139.5 of the Macon-Bibb Code of Ordinances prohibits tampering with a meter.

    Should any production crew (construction, film, event etc.) require the removal of a meter, they must first complete an application, and only after Park Macon approval may any meter be altered.

    Pricing: $75 per meter

    Meter Removal Permit Applications are processed through our online portal or in the office with our self-service kiosk.

  • Should any production crew (construction, film, event, etc.) require a street to be closed, Park Macon requires 14-day notice.

    Park Macon needs to prevent payments from processing on that blockface.

Commercial Loading Zones

Operators of duly recognized commercial vehicles may purchase 15-minute increments of time at a rate of $2.00 per 15 minutes, for a maximum of 1 hour or $8.00. No vehicle other than a duly recognized commercial vehicle may park in commercial loading zones. By county ordinance, a commercial vehicle “must be properly identified showing that it is a delivery or pick-up vehicle.”

  • (1) Bear a commercial vehicle license plate; or

    (2) Are emblazoned with the name, logo or other identifier of a business affixed either permanently or temporarily to the vehicle in a manner identifiable from at least twenty-five feet away; or

    Temporary, unaffixed identification (e.g. a sheet of paper or cardboard on the dashboard or rear window deck) is not a sufficient label for a commercial vehicle.
